“The Thinking Game,” a documentary that follows Google DeepMind founder Demis Hassabis and his team, has garnered more than 200 million views on YouTube in just four weeks after its free release on November 25, 2025.
Directed by Greg Kohs and filmed over five years, the feature film captures key moments, including the groundbreaking discovery of AlphaFold, which solved a 50-year-old challenge in protein structure prediction and earned Hassabis and John Jumper the 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
The documentary provides rare behind-the-scenes access to DeepMind’s pursuit of artificial general intelligence, and its free-to-release strategy was aimed at maximizing public education about AI developments rather than pursuing traditional streaming partnerships.
