Mr. Hwang was investigated on charges of administering methamphetamine to two acquaintances in Gangnam, Seoul in July the year before last.

Mr. Hwang, who left the country for Thailand in February to avoid the investigation, later entered the country illegally.
In May of last year, the police requested Interpol to arrest him and even invalidated his passport, but he continued to run away and recently suddenly announced his intention to voluntarily return to the country.

Sunday morning, I was arrested on a flight to Korea.
During the substantive warrant examination, Mr. Hwang completely denied the charges, saying, “I did not administer Philopon and I have no record of administering it to an acquaintance.”
He said, “I decided to return to Korea because I wanted to take proper responsibility for my child who was recently born in Cambodia.”
It is reported that the child and the child’s father, who were staying in Cambodia together, returned to Korea this morning.
The court is expected to decide as early as late tonight whether to issue an arrest warrant for Hwang, who has said he wants to raise the child himself.
The police conducted a drug test on Mr. Hwang upon entering the country, and plan to check whether he committed any other illegal acts while fleeing abroad.
